GUYS IF YOU DON’T PLAY NEW LEAF FOR A FEW DAYS

LIKE A WEEK

MAKE A NEW CHARACTER

IF ANYONE IS IN BOXES

GO TO YOUR DS SETTINGS AND GO A DAY BACKWARDS

NEW VILLAGER

BYE BOXES

I JUST DID THIS BECAUSE DAISY WAS IN BOXES AND NOW SHE IS NOT

In 1979, when the minimum wage was $2.90, a hard-working student with a minimum-wage job could earn enough in one day (8.44 hours) to pay for one academic credit hour. If a standard course load for one semester consisted of maybe 12 credit hours, the semester’s tuition could be covered by just over two weeks of full-time minimum wage work—or a month of part-time work. A summer spent scooping ice cream or flipping burgers could pay for an MSU education. The cost of an MSU credit hour has multiplied since 1979. So has the federal minimum wage. But today, it takes 60 hours of minimum-wage work to pay off a single credit hour, which was priced at $428.75 for the fall semester.

Being a critical fan means that you love a famous human being, knowing fully well they are flawed and can make mistakes due to their privilege-blindness or outright ignorance (whether knowingly or unknowingly practicing misogyny, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, racism, etc.). When they fuck up, it is your duty as a critical fan to make them better, call them out and educate them. Your job is not to create excuses and adamantly defend their mistakes because they are so fierce in your eyes.

"tumblr taught me more than school ever did" is obviously referring to things like sexism and racism and disability and abuse and not to things like reading and math, stop being deliberately obtuse for notes

I really don’t think we’re going to end racism by joking about it. Like I’m glad that the white liberals feel like they are less racist because they can joke about people who are more explicitly racist but that actually does nothing to help people of color

ATTENTION: If you have an autoplay, if you post any triggering/NSFW content, if you are going on hiatus, or simply need to alert your followers of something, this post is for you.
A lot of people are triggered by sudden noises that they have no idea were coming, or just plain out not being ready for a sound or music. I’ve found a code for your tumblr that you can set to display your own message. I think it’d be really helpful if you have followers afraid of things that will suddenly startle them. You can find the code here. You can also use this for your own alert. Ex: “I am on hiatus!” “This blog contains ____.” This is good for many triggers. Simply copy and paste the code below your <head> and insert your own message into ‘YOUR MESSAGE HERE’. This has been a PSA. Please reblog this so people will know how to make their tumblrs a little safer. It’s not a must, but it’s a nice addition to help your followers feel safer on your blog.

So, that version is slightly less than perfect in that it’s impossible to x out of a window where that notification is up in some browsers — you have to click “okay” and start to enter the blog before you can leave.
The solution I found for one of my sideblogs is this code, which allows people to hit “cancel” to go back to their previous page.
This may be preferable if your blog has particularly triggering content that is likely to load quickly.

WHEN PEOPLE SAY YOU HAVE PRIVILEGE THEY ARE NOT SAYING THAT YOU DON’T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS

THEY ARE SAYING YOU DO NOT HAVE THE SPECIFIC PROBLEMS THAT COME FROM OPPRESSION

THIS IS NOT A DIFFICULT CONCEPT

But confusingly, misogynists are sometimes men who speak softly and eat vegan and say “a woman’s sexual freedom is an essential component to her liberation. So come here.” It’s a tricky world out there. And while I’d prefer a critical approach to gender from men I elect, read and even bed, in my experience, the so-called feminist men I’ve met deep down have not been less antagonistic or bigoted toward women. What I see over and over again is misogyny in sheep’s clothing, and at this point, I would rather see wolves as wolves.
